Vacation Scholarships

ASM WA awards several vacation scholarships to student members of the Australian Society for Microbiology wishing to gain laboratory experience in microbiology during the long summer vacation period. These are usually but not exclusively awarded to students in their final year of undergraduate study in a microbiology related dicipline. Application for student membership of the ASM may be submitted with the scholarship application.

ASM-WA VACATION SCHOLARSHIPS 2008

The Australian Society of Microbiology invites applications for Vacation Scholarships to give undergraduates an opportunity to participate in research projects that are related to microbiology.

These projects are to be carried out during the December/January summer vacation. The Scholarships are tenable for six to eight weeks during the vacation and are valued at $200 per week.

Projects are to be carried out in universities, attached to hospitals and/or in research institutes that provide appropriate facilities, and are to be supervised by an appropriate research worker who is required to supply a brief statement about his/her ability and willingness to provide the necessary supervision.

Applications for scholarships must be endorsed by the Head of the appropriate Institution/School/Group.

Applications close in October each year.  The date will be advertised later in the year
