Travel Awards
The ASM and its state/ territory branches sponsor 3 travel awards annually for financial members of the association.
Winners in each category are required to give a 15 minute presentation of their work (10 minute talk, 5 minute question time) at the WA Student Awards night preceding the National Conference.

GUIDELINES FOR TRAVEL AWARDS APPLICATIONS
APPLICANTS MUST:
1. Be financial members of ASM;
2. Submit an abstract to the conference organization and a copy to the selection sub-committee;
3. Submit an 800 - 1000 word summary of their work - capable of being understood by a lay person;
4. Submit a detailed CV outlining:personal details, qualifications, university grades, work / research experience, publications.
5. Submit a philosophy of less than 250 words for attending the ASM meeting;
6. Submit names and contacts of three (3) referees.
Award winners must submit or have submitted their abstract for the ASM National Meeting (see http://www.theasm.com.au)
It is important that the submitted abstract and summary contain scientific data. Abstracts or works submitted as "proposals" or "work in progress" without hard results data will, except in extreme circumstances, not be of sufficient standard to receive an award. Students are encouraged to discuss submissions with their supervisors as a guide to suitability for these awards.
THE COMMITTEE HAS THE OPTION OF NOT AWARDING A PRIZE IN ANY CATEGORY
Becton Dickinson (BD) Award
This award is sponsored by BD and available to student members of the ASM. It finances one student from each branch to attend the Annual Scientific Meeting of the ASM (return economy airfare, conference registration & accommodation allowance)
Recipients must submit an Abstract to conference organisers and present a paper at the Meeting.
Previous BD Award winners are ineligible to receive that award again.

National Award
This award is sponsored by ASM National Office and available to student members of the ASM. It finances one full-time student from each branch to attend the Annual Scientific Meeting of the ASM (return economy airfare, conference registration & accommodation allowance)
Recipients must submit an Abstract to conference organisers and present a paper at the Meeting.

Branch Travel Award
This award is sponsored by ASM Western Australia Branch and available to recent graduates (less than 5 years since graduation) who are members of the ASM. It finances one person from WA to attend the Annual Scientific Meeting of the ASM (return economy airfare and conference registration)
Recipients must submit an Abstract to conference organisers and present a paper or poster at the Meeting.
Previous Branch Award winners are ineligible to receive that award again
